Our work is focused on how several members of the IL-17 cytokine family participate in intestinal and respiratory immunity. Our current goals include further understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying Th17 cell-mediated inflammation and whether targeting such mechanisms can ameliorate inflammatory damage. Reynolds joined the faculty of the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Reynolds joined the Department of Immunology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center to study the regulation and function of interleukin-17 (IL-17) and related IL-17 family cytokines. Joseph Reynolds graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2007 with a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology. As a graduate student Joseph studied the effect of fatty acid-binding proteins in the regulation of inflammation and disease.
